Jon Walker is a Brooklyn native, born to Jamaican parents. Growing up in Flatbush allowed him the opportunity to experience the Brooklyn hip hop scene firsthand. He was able to grow his love for hip hop because of his family’s strong ties to music. Jon was influenced by all genres of music. He grew up listening mostly to reggae and dancehall. His lyricism can be attributed to some of the biggest dancehall lyricists of the 90’s. Some of the artists he listened to were Sizzla Kalonji, Bounty Killa, and Vybz Kartel. Hip hop was a way for him to create his own stories and flex his skills. His stories speak on his life and his journey to become one of the greats in hip hop.
Jon started rapping in the 7th grade at the age of 12. He realized he was a master with his words, and he would always practice rhyming and performing. It wasn't until 2008 that he decided to take his music seriously after linking with fellow artists Fortune and Droopy. He started out by attending studio sessions. He has had the opportunity to make his mark on the music scene by attending and performing at colleges/universities and small local gigs. He is currently working to push his single “Mind Running” to gain an even stronger fanbase and platform.
Check out Jon's silky smooth flow while subtlety delivering the message that it takes hard work to realize your goals and dreams.
